Outreach: Building the Musical Pipeline and Strengthening Local Culture

Copenhagen Jazz Orchestra bridges the gap between the professional jazz scene and the talents of tomorrow. We are currently rolling out a new concept for our signature concerts, designed to combine musical excellence with targeted outreach, education, and talent development.

Our ambition is to establish long-term partnerships with established venues—primarily in the Zealand region—where we work together to elevate the local cultural landscape and engage entirely new audiences.

The Core of the Project

The defining feature of this concept is that a CJO concert never stands alone. We create proactive outreach collaborations with high schools and music schools, unfolding across three main tracks:

  • Masterclasses & Workshops: We offer specialized teaching and school concerts featuring smaller line-ups based on our current musical projects.
  • The Talent Encounter: On the day of the concert, we host an intensive workshop for local music school students.
  • The Culmination: The students join the orchestra on stage for selected numbers during the evening’s professional performance.

A Win-Win Situation for All Partners

This concept activates CJO’s unique combination of resources, expertise, and network, creating value for everyone involved:
